1:01:18 August 29, 1995 (Note: Tape quality is substandard. There is an echo from an underlying recording running simultaneously in the background, and some “beating,” but the words are clear.)
1. Death of Deletha Word. Recording opens in the middle of a discussion about the account of Harvey Mayberry, a bus driver who witnessed the fatal attack of Deletha Word, who died on August 19, 1995, after jumping from the Belle Isle Bridge to escape a beating from another driver.
2. Space Alien Autopsy. Mark refers to “last night’s” show on Channel 2, Space Alien Autopsy (stops after commercial break); flying saucers cannot be made.
3. Various topics in the news. Indian protest; Bilingual education; overcrowding in prisons/juvenile systems; NYC telephone bomb threat by Islamic groups foreshadows future terrorist attacks; gun laws; Florida towns as “traffic traps;” and companies getting larger through consolidation.
Callers:
a. “Catherine from Garden City” has an emotional attachment to the idea of space aliens, and flying saucers in particular. Very fine example of how Mark could refute a common fallacious argument, on the spot, in a calm, non-combative (she was difficult) way. Discussion: Iron Mountain Report.
b. “Randy from his cellular.” re space aliens.
Note: Recording stops in the middle of Mark’s discourse about technical difficulties in “faking” this autopsy at about 31m, but picks up again at 32m, in mid discussion, with a caller “Doug from Hazel Park, ”about aliens and photograph of “flying device.”
c. “Jeremy from Wyandotte” re space aliens as a “manifested demonic form” in order to abolish religious belief and that, through the laws of physics, spiritual forms can become physical. Discussion follows. Break in Recording. 4. At 45m15s picks up with reference to Joyce Riley RN and Peter Kurwaja, Security Analyst. Mark advises the audience of the need to listen to the show every day.

I believe today, April 11, may be Mark’s birthday. As I listen to these broadcasts I am struck by the depth and goodness of this person, qualities that are often killed in our culture, but never in him. He is eternal in this way, and that is why is it so vitally important to preserve these tapes — men with heart of soul of this magnitude should be honoured and protected for all time.
